Whaley Bridge Under 15s ended a three game losing streak with a good win at Stockport Junior Blues South.

After last week's refereeing debacle it was good to see a proper ref managing the game, and Whaley were on the offensive from the start. Wild played a long crossfield ball to Connell who ran on to the pass and smashed the ball home. Whaley were rampant, and Wild and McIlveen both missed chances before Bagshaw applied a cool finish to double their advantage. Stockport came back, and when keeper Hodges tripped their centre forward the penalty was obvious. Fortunately Hodges escaped with a yellow card, but he could do nothing with the spot kick and it was 2-1 at half time. Whaley continued to dominate the second half, with Connell, Bagshaw, Wild and Williams all having good chances to increase the lead. Hunt provided plenty of ammunition, whilst at the back Gould and Madden grew in confidence as the right side alternated between Burt, Glover and Pickard. As time went on Stockport pressed forward, and from a corner they equalised with less than ten minutes left. Whaley didn't let their heads drop, and Bagshaw applied another calm finish to make it 3-2. Wild then had another great chance that was tipped onto the bar, whilst the follow up was blasted over by Bagshaw. Into injury time Williams took a free kick on the right. It soared over the keeper who could only tip it into the net, and at 4-2 the game was safe. There were no further goals, and on this occasion Whaley hung onto their victory quite comfortably, but with so many missed chances it could have been a frustrating day.
