With Streets missing Whaley lined up against a resurgent young and fit Altrincham side with an attack minded 3 at the back and 5 across midfield with top scorer Tom Scorer and Jack Kelly up front. The visitors started well and within minutes created several good chances; Kelly's effort of particular note as he broke free to run 50 yards with the ball only to see his left foot effort fly just wide.  The rest of the half was fairly even with Altrincham just about shading it although the game was played mostly in the middle third and with chances shared. Laughin made a great save from Scorer; Jack Gregory could have done better in front of goal and Bill Sutton headed against the outside of the post from a late first half free kick.

Whaley took time to settle into their new formation but it began to show dividends early on in the second half when they took control and looked the sharper for it. Jack Kelly crossed for Lee Morris to control and then move the ball sideways adjusting himself perfectly to smash the ball into the bottom right hand corner.   A second effort soon after saw Lee shoot wide just glancing the post.

Whaley were now very much on top and there was little Altrincham could do about it; the pressure beginning to tell as Whaley’s midfield 5 began to dominate.  Will Bailey looked more comfortable this week and Adam Barlow fitter after a long injury. Kelly managed to chase down a Joe Burgess through ball to volley a great ball across goal for Scorer to come in at the back post to cushion his header into the net.  Whaley were well on top and unlike previous weeks took their chances and finished a good footballing Altrincham side off in a clinical 20 minutes spell.

All spectators were treated to a potential goal of the season as Bailey's cross was met by a flying Tom Scorer overhead kick timed to perfect a volley into the top of the goal from 10 yards.  Scorer then became provider as his cross was headed in from 10 yards by Joe Burgess to complete the scoring.  Whaley relaxed and Altrincham applied some late pressure with shots from Ryan Barry & Boris both saved by inform Tattersall who as usual did the necessary to maintain his fantastic form this season.
