Whaley Bridge Under 18s continued their good run of form with victory at Hazel Grove. Whaley took a somewhat fortunate lead when Ethan Williams looped in a free kick that was headed into his own net by a Grove defender. It was a familiar tale after that, with Nathan Wild playing in Jack Howell for his first of the game. Minutes later it was Zain Saeed the provider, as once again Howell found the back of the net. Howell had another chance but the keeper made a good save, then Danny Burt had a rare shot that was easily saved. As half time approached the referee gave what looked like a harsh penalty, and the home side made no mistake. 3-1 at the break, and the next goal was important. Ash Blackham was in fine form, and it was perhaps inevitable that the final blow was delivered by Howell, who's shot was blocked by the keeper but it still found its way across the line. Whaley were missing a couple of key players which makes this comfortable 4-1 victory all the more satisfying, but there will be tougher tests to come.
