Anyway CFL step 7 outfit Whaley Bridge AFC will travel to Ilkeston Town recently purchased by Nottingham businessman Alan Hardy on 21st July 2017 for an undisclosed fee from Midlands based accountancy and advisory firm Smith Cooper the previous Ilkeston FC club’s liquidators.

Hardy, who owns several successful companies, including Paragon Interiors and the Nottinghamshire Golf and Country Club, and who also acquired Notts County Football Club in January 2017, struck a deal to secure the future of the club after it was wound up in the High Court.

Upon completing the purchase of Ilkeston FC Hardy announced that the club’s name will revert to Ilkeston Town Football Club with immediate effect. Ilkeston Town entered into Midland Football League Division One for the 2017-18 season, appointing former player and academy manager Steve Chettle as first-team manager and hiring Ian Deakin as his assistant.  Ilkeston Town are currently 5th in the league table.
