Whaley Bridge come out on top with a great performance to win a thrilling cup-tie.

The excitement of cup football brought out the best in the away side. After an even opening quarter were both sides had their chances to open the scoring , the home side made the breakthrough as a good cross was turned in at close range.

Whaley responded with even greater attacking intent and were rewarded when Christopher won and then converted a penalty to put Whaley back on level terms. The away side were not finished there and went into halftime a goal up after a clever finish from Theo found the back of the net.

Having got themselves in front , Whaley found themselves pegged back as their hosts equalised shortly after the break with a powerful shot.

However Whaley were not disheartened and continued to attack with some fine interplay particularly between Theo and Lewis. This resulted in Whaley re-taking the lead with a terrific shot from just outside the area by Theo.

As they continued to press forward Whaley added further goals as Lewis struck a well-deserved goal while Michael was alert enough to turn home a rebound from close range to seal the away side's victory.

A great performance from the whole team who played superbly to a boy. Excellent defensive work holding firm and an in-form attack brought the reward of a well-earned victory for Whaley. Up for the Cup , boys !!

In freezing rain Whaley Bridge show their spirit with a lively 2nd half fight back on a cold matchday.

In weather more suited to ducks , Whaley saw their visitors race out of the blocks and put the home defence under pressure from the start. Having not played competitively for a few weeks , Whaley were rusty to begin with and saw their opposition race into a three goal lead just outside of ten minutes.

However , as so often , as the half drew on Whaley started to find their feet and were rewarded with a stunning freekick from Theo which arrowed into the top corner. This lifted Whaley and they created further chances for Theo and Christopher which went narrowly wide.

Unfortunately as halftime neared , the away side broke away and restored their three goal advantage before the break.

As has been the story of this season , a re-engergised Whaley emerged for the second period. As the driving rain got heavier , Whaley got better. Despite the blow of their opponents increasing their lead just after halftime , Whaley continued on the offensive.

Theo pulled one goal back and there were chances for the same player as well as for Hugo and Lewis. A combination of good goalkeeping and plain bad luck denied Whaley their reward. With time all but up , Theo's fine shot found the corner of the net. However the referee's whistle put an end to the comeback.

A game played in difficult conditions but another fine second half performance made for a close scoreline. Hopefully it will be sunnier next time , boys !!

Another high-scoring home match for Whaley Bridge saw another trademark 2nd half comeback in an entertaining encounter.

After a very even and scoreless first quarter of an hour , the away side took the lead as a shot from the centre just squeezed inside the post. This lead was doubled within the next minute and Whaley found themselves three goals down as halftime approached.

As so often this season , Whaley emerged in the second half with a positive response and attempted another exciting comeback. After the away side had extended their lead Christopher fired home a fierce close range shot to give Whaley their first goal of the game.

This brought about a response from the opposition who increased their advantage further. However , Whaley were not finished and continued to attack.

Christopher , playing further forward than usual , was able to score two more goals to bring Whaley back in contention. The first with a fine shot and the second nipping in between the defender and goalkeeper to get to the ball first. A Christopher cross was turned in at close range by Alex and Whaley were in sight of their opponents but with time running short.

The away side made the most of Whaley's commitment to attack to breakaway. The first of these attacks was foiled by a wonderful double save from Benji coupled with a goalline clearance by Mackie. Sadly the second breakaway found the Whaley net and the match was finished.

Another second half to be proud of from Whaley. The boys just need to make sure they don't leave themselves too much to do after the first period. Carry on that second half feeling , boys !!

After a tough time last time at Droylsden , Whaley banished those memories with a terrific performance.

If their hosts thought they would be in for a comfortable day after Whaley's last visit , the opening 15 minutes showed they would be in for a much tougher game.

Twice in that first quarter , Theo was able to break the offside trap to race clear on goal. One finish over the advancing keeper and one placed past him into the net and Whaley were 2-0 up.

A fine performance continued but sadly Whaley were unable to keep their lead until halftime as Droylsden were able to pull the two goals back needed to see the sides level at the break.

Droylsden started the 2nd half on the attack and found themselves ahead for the first time with a shot following a corner.

The Whaley heads did not drop and they battled hard and despite some mazy Theo runs and fierce shots from Jack and Lewis they were unable to find an equaliser.

Droylsden were able to add to their lead with a fine shot from a breakaway however a combination of a working offside trap and some excellent goalkeeping from Zac prevented any further goals for the opposition.

Overall , an excellent display from Whaley and all the boys can be very happy with how they performed. More of the same next time !!

For the second week running Whaley Bridge stage a stirring 2nd half comeback in a thrilling match.

After Great Moor Panthers raced into an early three goal lead , Whaley reduced the deficit with a stunning strike from Theo as his fierce shot from just inside the opposition half lobbed the keeper and found the net in style.

Unfortunately for Whaley , their opponents increased their lead further before halftime to gain a five goal lead. However Whaley have transformed themselves at halftime this season and so it proved again.

Two more goals from Theo had halved the Great Moor lead and Whaley continued to create chances for themselves with some great passing and running. Fine goalkeeping from Benji and solid defending prevented any further goals in the Whaley net but these opposition attacks were rare as Whaley continued to press forward.

With time running out , Theo pulled yet another goal back and with just seconds remaining Lewis produced a cool finish to bring Whaley within one goal. Sadly the referee's whistle sounded before Whaley had the chance to find the equaliser.

Another great second half saw Whaley just fall short but with a little more sharpness in the first half and , with the many chances Whaley are creating , good results will come soon. More like that second half , boys !!

A game of two halves as the Whaley boys attempt a brave comeback in the 2nd half against Juno United.

A lively opening half saw Juno United race into a four goal lead in 17 minutes as two Juno players each scored twice. Despite this setback , Whaley managed to see out the rest of the first half without further goals and grew in confidence as the first half ended.

However it was different Whaley Bridge that emerged after the halftime break. Straight from the kick-off Whaley applied attacking pressure and pulled a goal back almost immediately as Theo's great shot found the far corner of the net. Six minutes later and the Whaley comeback was really on as Theo reduced Juno's lead to just 2 goals with another fine shot.

Whaley kept on going and created several chances only to be denied by some super saves by the Juno goalkeeper. As Whaley continued to attack , Juno had a couple of breakaway chances but they too were stopped by some excellent saves by Benji and some fine tackles by the Whaley defence.

Unfortunately for Whaley , as they continued to attack , Juno were able to add two more late goals to restore their halftime lead but Whaley should be delighted with how they performed in the second half.

A true game of two halves , a stunning comeback attempt from Whaley Bridge. Keep that 2nd half performance going for next time , boys !!

Full-size pitch & full-size goals and a brave defeat for the Whaley boys.

The scoreline does not reflect on what was actually a very even and entertaining end-to-end game. On the chances created , the game could easily have finished as a draw or even a win for Whaley.

Unfortunately for Whaley they had bad luck and , while their shots went narrowly wide , their visitors shots would just squeeze inside the goal.

Whaley should be pleased with the chances they created and just need a bit more fortune. However no luck was needed in the goals Whaley actually did score. From the great passing and one-twos that led to Theo's first and Theo's exciting run from the halfwayline for the second to Christopher's great persistance which was rewarded with a goal and Michael's cool finish from a cross , Whaley should be pleased with the quality of their goals.

Overall , a fine effort. With a bit more luck in defence and a few more chances taken , Whaley have every chance of a positive result in their next game. Keep going , boys !!

Whaley recover from an early setback to record a great pre-season win over an in-form Inter Cheadle.

After a bright start which saw Theo and Jack hit fine shots narrowly wide of the goal , Inter Cheadle took the lead as their Number 10 raced through to score. They went further ahead as the same player was able to score two more in quick succession. After a tactical switch which saw Christopher given the job of man-marking the dangerous Number 10 , Whaley Bridge took control as the 1st half ended and were given hope when Theo scored after a great run and shot.

After a half-time break , Whaley scored straight after the restart through another fine strike from Theo. This was quickly followed by the equaliser. A great team move was finished by Jack after playing a brilliant one-two with Alex. 3-3 , Whaley were back in the game !!

With just 5 minutes left Theo hit a long range shot which found the back of the net and gave Whaley the lead for the first time. Victory was sealed when Theo squeezed a shot in from a difficult angle to complete a great comeback.

A great performance from all the boys. Looking good for the new season. Well done !!!
